booking - 2 years' worth

so, when the internet is missing, i apparently get more books read. and i have some new places to read, as well. i always end up reading on the train; but the train is not a regular occurrence for me, and i've been known to orchestrate reasons to take it so that i can get some reading done. that hasn't changed. i read in the laundromat now. i read at home. and i read during the five-minute smoke/outdoor breaks i take at work (rather than a lunch). and in the past 23 months, i've read 98 books. 37 in 2007 and 61 in 2008. some of them were re-reads of series. (i re-read harry potter 1-6 before deathly hallows came out, for example, and i re-read both laurell k. hamilton series.)

but it makes up for 2006, in which a review of my booking posts tells me i read a meager 11.

there's a lot of urban fantasy in there. i tend to get into anti-ruts, where i just go with whatever my mood is doing in order to keep reading.

i may get around to commenting on some of the books i read. i meant to keep up with that in a word.doc while i was away, but didn't. i did manage to keep the list going. to try and do even a blurb on all of them for the sake of my records now might be a little tricky, so i'm going to try to be okay with that.

this year i will keep up my booking list, and i plan to start tracking films as well. i think i tried that before and fell off the wagon.

odds and ends

don't quite understand why i slept badly last night, but i did, so there you go.

i went and did laundry this morning, so maybe getting my lucky blanket back will make tonight better. i seem to have a sustained an injury from doing the laundry... or rather, from playing ms. pacman at the laundromat. </embarrassed> my wrist is giving me a hell of a time. i only played one game ffs. *shrug*

finished season 3 of dexter last night, finally.

last two items remind me, new icon! actually, i made it months ago. (tell me dexter doesn't look like he's playing with a joystick there!) [1]

trying to finish rearranging the furniture now that the cable is installed. this also involves trying to get the vaccuuming done as well [2]. these are difficult things to do when the big shiny internet is at your fingertips, but i'm soldiering on. my reward for completing these things is that i get to reply to lj comments.

the kitties seem to be over their two-day territorial battles for the bed (after it moved.) for two days now they seem to be coexisting peacefully on it. i don't know who won, or what the stipulations of their truce might be, but i'm glad.

the result of the adventures with furnace people is that i suddenly seem to have heat in my home that isn't generated by my oven. this is great, though it makes me slightly worried about the crocheting i've been doing and the knitting nymsa's been doing. not really, though. cozy is cozy.

the internet is full of things like hamsters on pianos, purple squirrels, jonathan rhys meyer's lovely accent, crochet patterns, dennis cooper's scary blog, sadness at noah grey apparently leaving the net altogether, the temptation of the promise of wordtwist on facebook, all the late night show appearances i've missed, photos, weather geekery... ... ... ok. back to work. *sigh*
