'twas the night before returning to work, and all through the night...

not a creature was sleeping, for more than two hours at a time or so. (except maybe the cat creatures) but that's typical on the night before going back to work after a vacation.

odd dreams, like:

- bear cub in the house! (quick! feed it apples! get it into a giant rubbermaid container!)
- some weird mix of dexter, house, and david ford (lying mother still doesn't meet dexter's code!)
- former student's mother at the supermarket weighing produce (not getting apples or about to be killed by dexter!)
- playing a phil collins song on the jukebox an evil number of times while people are ice skating (not my fault! my brain is fucked up!)

odd cats, like:

- george thinking it a wonderful idea to step on my eyeball and just stand there

i'm at peace with the fact that vacation is over, because my vacation was a good one. however, i don't want to go to work today. if that sounds like a contradiction, then so be it.

time to put on socks and get those feet walking. wah.

haphazard happenings/emptying my brain

in and of itself, it was not a bad day at work, though i did get bad news. the student i've been working with was hospitalised over the break; not sure if we'll see him again. i'd feel better about it if he were at a hospital that had a program for him, but he isn't.

after work today involved veggie quesadillas, music exchange, reading about service animals and exorcism (not in the same texts!), floundering around facebook, and playing wordtwist. it didn't involve a new episode of himym, but such is life.

i'm going to try to get to bed at an early hour since i slept so badly last night. weather looks like it might affect my workweek somehow; we'll see what happens.

i have giftcards from xmas and my birthday to spend at barnes and noble. i should do this soon. not sure yet what i'll acquire with them.

in odd work news, today i had to graph how many times a student was spoken to by staff members for three weeks in december. total: a lot.

in obssessive date/money news, i can't remember if i wrote the correct year on my rent check, and it's making me batty.

the blanket i'm working on is coming along nicely. (crochet, lion brand homespun, double-stranded, single crochet back loop only, very, very, very wide.) i'm on the sixth color.(2 skeins of a color per band)

in lj news, i very much want to update my interests list. i've started, but will take my time doing it. additionally, i want to change the overall color scheme of my journal and friends page. i'm not sure i have the patience to do that just yet.

the cats are running through the house playing. well, george is running, zelda is trotting after him and falling down.

i feel like i should eat something, but i had my lunch (a veggie wrap) at 1:30, and went out and had the veggie quesadilla at around 4:00. surely eating again is begging for trouble?

dude. i got an email about my twentieth high school reunion today. i'm slightly shocked. and am so not going.

there was a northern harrier on the church across the street from work today when i arrived at 7:00. it looked at me and seemed to wonder if it could take me. i feared it for a short amount of time. also, there have been snowy owls within two miles of my house for weeks, and yet i cannot go see them. curses! there have been slate-colored dark-eyed juncos outside my house, and yesterday there was a white-throated sparrow as well. that's a first.
