snow day

i have a snow day. i went to bed at 11:30, and was then up from 3:15 til 6:00. i tried to go back to sleep, but it didn't work. then i slept from 6-9. i'm all stiff and so on, because it was pretty damned chilly in here. it's been snowing a lot. i have absolutely no idea how much we've gotten so far, because it's all blowing wildly and in spots i can see the ground and in spots it looks like a foot.

things i should really do today:

- venture outside in the mess to pay the rent
- install mythical legendary magical printer to see if it works
- all the futzing around i need to do in order to install mythical legendary magical printer
- dye my hair (i need to redden up this orange, because it continues to fade. i do not want to be a yellow-orange crayon.) (tuesday)
- housework
- sort through backpack and paper bag
- make bag of things to bring to work
- email, comments, lj, fb

things i may end up doing (possibly in addition to, possibly instead of half of the above)

- bake a cake
- make a batch of instant chai
- obsessing over meteorology
- ooh, pretty, click, ooh, pretty, click, ooh, pretty, click
- making icons
- making icons i can't use because the images are protected, and keeping them in a folder i can stare at

time will tell. at least i'm home and not out in the exploding-styrofoam-but-this-is-not-a-movie.

notes from around the house that aren't whinging about it

i cooked (successfully) for the first time in a long time yesterday. (the ricotta pasta doesn't count because i had an assistant.) i wanted to use the diced onions i bought before they went bad (again), so i started with that. i ended up with an approximation of indian food: spinach, chick peas, mushrooms, onion, rice. (garlic, cilantro, dried ginger, cumin, coriander, cardamom, sea salt.) it came out pretty good and i am pleased. and i have leftovers which will probably be lunch today.

i have added some egg nog hot cocoa mix to the dish in the oven, so the house is starting to smell like chocolate or brownies or something along those lines.

oh! and i should make a batch of instant chai.
