i'm pretty darned tired so i'm keeping this brief so i can head to bed, and because i'm not likely to be all that coherent. spent the evening in the city with [livejournal.com profile] nymsa seeing glen hasard play 2 short sets, and hearing three writers read.

one of the writers i liked quite a lot (andrew sean greer, who wrote the confessions of max tivoli.) i will now have to go buy that book and/or something else he's written, because the stuff he read tonight he started writing fairly recently.

glen hansard had an accompanying piano player whose name i've sadly forgotten already, but he was lovely. glen played seven songs that i not only didn't know but had never even heard of, plus one cover. all were awesome. it was a very mellow set of sets. some nice intensity with the vocals toward the end. i love him. (in that, "i really love that performer a whole lot" sense, as opposed to "i will climb in his window and swap his mascara around while he sleeps" sense.[1])

more gushing or details or something when i'm more coherent.

[livejournal.com profile] tenar, i'm sorry you weren't there, but i hope you felt the spiritual squee.

tonight it will be 12F degrees. sunday it's predicted to be 67F degrees. that's a 55 degree jump in 4 days. combined with changing the clocks on sunday, my entire internal equilibrium will be utterly fucked.

eek! (but i shouldn't complain about 67 degrees, oh no, no, no no no. and i'm not. not really.)
