ah yes... the david ford show. it was in a place called the living room, just south of houston, around the corner from the mercury lounge. small place. waiting in the bar portion of the venue to get into the back was a pain in the ass, because there is not enough room in the bar portion to contain all the people waiting to get into the venue comfortably. :P i enjoyed seeing david ford hanging out near the entrance to the performance space chatting with people. i would have spoken to him and asked him how his knee was (view his twitter @davidfordisdead for the reference), but i was kind of plastered to a wall in an alcove waiting for the crowd to move. :P

links to videos included to simulate the live performance, and so that brandy new songs can be heard. these videos are not from last night's show. but they are all from recent shows so are newer performances than we've seen live, nymsa. ;)

1. (he didn't offer a title, but it seems to be this one) waiting for a storm http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4frr3oQ2_Vo
2. (he didn't offer a title, but...) panic! dirt and matchwood, or panic! father forgive me http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dAofRG99r5E "for this song, i would like to hold this box to my bosom." and then he made comments about how he should have thought about what he was saying before he said it. (nymsa, make sure to watch this version, it's better quality than the "official" one that got posted back in april.) i love this song very much. and i love it live.
3. to hell with the world http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p3H8lmxyzcg
4. again, he didn't offer a title, i don't think... strangest feeling http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nF3N4Tinu_c
5. stephen (not on ukelele last night) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E-nKwsf-AkQ it's about stephen carroll.
6. song for the road http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lfr_nR6tUvU
7. state of the union "one of these days i'll do a show and not play this song, but it is not today." he told a story about fox news at the beginning, which is essentially at the beginning of this video as well. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xlqbv-gqk_M let me pause to talk about this. the piano wasn't hooked up to his looping equipment, so when there were piano parts to loop into the song, he brought the looping mic over and held it above the piano. it was fabulous. some of the piano parts he played on the guitar. he performed part of the song near the end on the floor. in the fetal position, and then on his back.

encore:
8. call to arms http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YgHuLQXBIW4 which he preceded by comments about warm and fuzziness, and about leading a group hug after the show by walking into the middle of the crowd with his arms outstretched. this did not happen immediately after the show, and i left, so i don't know if he did it later.

other notes: i'm annoyed by the girl who tried to get a photo of him right after call to arms. he started to pause for it but looked conflicted. he asked her if she could catch him after, because he had to get his equipment off the stage. she said yes, but she was bitchy after he went back to the stage to get his stuff. bitch, performers are not your slaves.

i have to get ready for work. if i think of anything i forgot, i'll add it later.

i am so tired omg.
