a list of birding injuries
Jan. 2nd, 2011 05:23 pmthursday: hit myself in the head with my binoculars getting into another birder's car. still sore.
saturday: after three days in a row of wearing my new boots and stomping all over three counties in two states looking at birds, my feet finally hit a crescendo of pain yesterday. by the time i stumbled home from yesterday's outing, i took those boots off before i even took of my jacket, binoculars, purse, and backpack.
last night i realised my littlest toe on one foot is numb.
sunday: well, i dug out last year's boots. i figured since their big disadvantage is giving me a blister on the littlest toe on my left foot, i could wear them today since that toe has no feeling in it anyway. :P i am blisterless! and my feet didn't hurt nearly as badly today, which is good because i was traipsing all over the place.
however, not all of my traipsing was walking - some of it was with another birder. thursday's birder, in fact. so sometimes i was in her car. and as we arrived at our final birding destination for the day, she closed the window on my hand. it's bruised and it hurts.

you might think i'm complaining. but really, i'm kind of amused. besides, that's only three injuries, and in the course of acquiring those three injuries, i also acquired five life birds, so i think i'm coming out ahead.
