a lot of weather

i was standing outside late this afternoon, when i saw that it was raining about ten feet in front of me. about ten seconds after that, it started raining on top of me. since there was a windy mix of sun and clouds, i suspected i could get a rainbow out of it. sure enough, there was one forming. the shower lasted all of one minute. the rainbow lasted maybe two. a few minutes later there was another rainbow, but it didn't photograph very well.

when i walked to work this morning i was hot, but the forecast called for a temperature drop with the cold front coming in. just as the squall line came through, i noticed the temperature in my room drop. i said to my coworker, "just in the few minutes we've been having this conversation, the temperature had dropped in here."

the poor man thought i was speaking metaphorically, and that he'd said something wrong.
