odd ways to scare the cat

there's nothing quite like bolting awake in a frenzy at 2am and needing to slather aloe gel with lidocaine all over your legs. zelda was fine, and then she must have smelled it. now she's hiding under the bed, in her own little frenzy. her eyes are very big. i'm going to try to go back to sleep now.
