labor day

i went out and did laundry (practically) first thing this morning, then headed off to look at birds again. i was out from about 10:30 until 6:00. best bird was a belted kingfisher. these guys are so skittish. i only ever see them in flight, and then only briefly. i am always pleased when i see one. there were also some phoebes and some usual suspects. i spent some time looking at butterflies and moths (clearwing moths are awesome), and some time actually playing with my camera today. i also took ridiculously frequent breaks to read.

unfortunately, i seem to have gotten a bit too much sun. oops.

tomorrow starts the four-day work week. may it be swift and painless.

off to scavenge flavorful liquid.

surprises. or rather, no surprises.

getting a skunk's attention *seems* counterintuitive, doesn't it?

but it was the best plan at the time.
