so i think i reconstructed my email program. i think i might have fixed it. maybe. of course, this was after hours of frustrating and upsetting work. see, my email program is kind of an extension of my brain. i have emails from 1996. i use my email as a way of backing up my memory, both long term and short term.

long term: can't remember what i did for new years in 2003? check email. check chat logs, check text messages if appropriate. check usenet if appropriate.

short term: who am i supposed to be replying to? in email? in lj? on fb? go through the recent email! etc., etc.

so. i've lost all the email between november 17 and dec 3rd. i spent several hours yesterday trying to reconstruct my folders in three different programs. for a while it looked like i was losing EVERYTHING. (who wants global amnesia?) it also looked like i was going to have to adapt to a different displaying format, which really would have made me frantic because i've used my mailboxes a certain way visually for years and years, and adjusting to a more outlook-like display would have physically and psychically hurt. :P

but it looks like i may have gotten it back. crossing my fingers that it doesn't crash again.

later today i will figure out some of the recent replying i have to do. at some point i will see if ebird will mass-email me my birding records from the past few weeks.

i was so stressed out yesterday afternoon it was ridiculous. i had a break when i went to get indian food w/ f., and at some point when i got back decided to take a new approach. it seemed to work. even though it was all still very stressful. and actually, just typing this out has stressed me out. :P

i need to go eat breakfast before i start making even more odd lj comments to people.

i have some creamy garlic pasta cooking in the microwave. it is truly rescue pasta.

the oven is on, for warmth, and to make roasted brussels sprouts. i prepped them yesterday, but then i got a call inviting me out for indian food, so they got tossed into the fridge.

i think we've finally hit winter weather. it's 34F. we may get some flurries. i need to go buy boots, because last year's boots are now eating me alive. but it's cold enough out that i don't feel like going that far away from the house. partly because my feet will get cold. :P

i am sitting here in this purple thermal shirt i recently acquired, and that i really like. i have been wearing it for two hours. i just noticed that it's on backwards.

- creamy garlic pasta: eaten
- brussels sprouts: roasted, half eaten

now:

- general hospital, watching and mocking
- collapse: double rainbow stockpiling
- swiss miss vanilla hot chocolate
- intermittent birding from the stoop (best bird so far, red-tail)
- just realised the thermal shirt is still on backwards. guess i'll leave it that way.

later:

- more frames
- commenting and replying
- maybe roast turnips and squash
- maybe nap
